The 7th Asian Bitumen Conference (AsB 2011), organized by the Conference Connection Inc, was successfully held on 19-21 October at the Siam Kempinski Hotel, Bangkok. We had the honor of having ThaiOil Group host the 7th AsB 2011 with Khun Surong Bulakul, Chief Executive Officer addressing the opening keynote. Despite the flood scare, AsB 2011 brought together over 100 participants including senior management, business development directors, asphalt/bitumen managers, sales & marketing managers, commercial managers, trading managers, technology managers, shipping & logistics managers and export managers from 20 countries. During the day, the attendees and speakers engaged in in-depth discussions and come evening, they were treated to a traditional Thai Dinner hosted by ThaiOil Group and VIVA pop opera entertainment which gave participants an opportunity to further make new relationships in a relaxed environment. Highlights of AsB 2011 |
- Over 100 participants representing bitumen industry leaders from 20 countries attended the 7th Asian Bitumen (AsB 2011).
- Participating countries at AsB 2011 included Iran, UAE, Tanzania, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Europe amongst others.
- 17 presentations were featured on the AsB 2011 agenda based on the theme: Growth Prospects & Challenges Ahead
- Opening Keynote Address was delivered by Khun Surong Bulakul, Chief Executive Officer, Thai Oil Public Company Ltd.
- A specially designed networking session - Meet and Greet (M&G) was organized giving every delegate the best opportunity to meet every conference participant!
- A Dinner hosted by ThaiOil Group was organized as part of the conference program on 20 October 2011 for all delegates where they were greeted with an extensive spread of traditional thai cuisine, drinks, thai dance and electrifying VIVA entertainment, Thailand’s leading pop opera vocal group.
- Delegate feedback has indicated that the event has provided comprehensive coverage of current issues as well as emerging trends in the industry, high quality presentations and premium networking opportunities. Most have also suggested that we continue to hold the conference on an annual basis. The delegate response rated premium networking opportunities and the programme as their key reasons for attending.
- Outstanding industry support from corporate sponsors which included TIPCO Asphalt and Richmond Group.
- Other supporting organizations and Media Sponsors at AsB 2011 included Petrosil/Bitumart.com, Capital Business, Petrofinder, Worldoils and The International Road Federation (IRF). These companies provided the conference with a good delegate base of senior executives and synergistic client relationships.
