Capt. Rahul Choudhuri is the VPS Managing Director for Asia, Middle East & Africa. He has been involved in the management of fuel quality & quantity survey business for 30 years.
Rahul is a Member of the following Associations:
• Chairman of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) Marine Fuels Committee (2019-2021).
• Member of the Singapore Technical Committee (TC) for Bunkering which has developed the bunkering standards in Singapore, such the SS600 & SS648. The TC for Bunkering is under the Singapore Standards Council (SSC) & Enterprise Singapore(ESG).
• Immediate past Chairman of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) Asia Executive Committee (2016- 2018).
• Member of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) International & Technical Committees (2019-2021).
Mr. Md Harun Ar Rashid
Technical Manager, VPS
Harun Rashid has served on board the petroleum tankers of Neptune Orient Lines and American Eagles Tankers at various ranks, including several years as Chief Engineer.
He joined VPS (previously DNV Petroleum Services), Singapore in 2006. As technical manager, he deals with fuel quality related matters, advises clients, and works closely with many engine makers. Providing external training and representing VPS in key industry discussions are also part of his job responsibilities.
His papers have been published by Lloyd’s List, the Business Times, Seatrade Asia Week, Bunker Bulletin, Ship & Bunker, the Japan Institute of Marine Engineering (JIME) Journal and the Marine Professional.
Harun holds a master’s degree in Maritime Studies from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and a Graduate diploma in Maritime Law and Arbitration from the National University of Singapore.
Mr. Stanley George
Group Technical & Science Manager, VPS
Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine engineering and Master’s degree in Ship Operations, Stanley has many years of seagoing experience with slow and medium speed engines and has served in all ranks up to Chief engineer.
As a Group Science & technical manager for VPS, Stanley is engaged in providing technical solutions, support and advise to our maritime customers, which is crucial to the safety and protection of their vessels and crews alike.
In previous positions, appointed by the P&I Clubs, Hull & Machinery underwriters, Law firms, Charterers, Owners, and other maritime interests, Stanley has undertaken various investigations and provided expert advice in claims relating to hull and machinery damage arising from main and auxiliary machinery failure, turbocharger, deck and shore cranes, steering gear, stern tube, shafting, propeller and rudder damage.
Stanley’s areas of focus involved casualty investigation, pre-purchase inspections, collisions, damage repairs, fire/explosions, flooded machinery space, fuel and lube quality disputes.
Stanley also has extensive experience as a Marine Warranty Surveyor and has performed numerous vessels suitability surveys, including off-hire and on-hire surveys.
Stanley deployed advanced survey and assessment techniques such as vibration analysis, acoustic emissions, thermographic imaging, passive and active ultrasonic measurements, flow monitoring, motor current analysis, engine performance analysis coupled with conventional fuel and used lubricating oil analysis.
One of the key areas of Stanley’s expertise is the Condition monitoring of vessels and vessel related equipment’s. This involves assessing the Used lubricating oil and fuel oil that is used on board the vessel.
During his current and previous tenure Stanley has setup multiple web-based applications for monitoring and trending used lubricating oil analysis and bunker oil analysis. Some of the software program is currently widely being used by oil majors, ship managers, ship owners and various other organisations managing with a database of several thousands of vessels.
